Custom MHD Tuning Built Around YOUR N54
Already have MHD on your N54-powered BMW?
The Kugan Tuning N54 MHD Remote Tune is a fully custom calibration built specifically around:
-
Your BMW
-
Your Turbo Setup
-
Your Fuel
-
Your Injectors
-
Your Fuel System
-
Your Bolt-Ons
-
Your Datalogs
-
Your Performance Goals
This is not a generic Stage 1 or Stage 2 file.
We use MHD to build and refine the calibration around your actual car, then review datalogs and make revisions until the setup is properly dialed in.
No trip to our dyno required.
Stop Leaving Power on the Table
The BMW N54 is one of the most capable turbocharged BMW engines ever produced.
Whether you're running:
-
Stock Turbos
-
Upgraded Twins
-
Single Turbo
-
Full Bolt-Ons
-
Pump Gas
-
E85 Blends
-
Upgraded Fuel System
-
Built Engine
the calibration becomes increasingly important as the setup changes.
A custom tune allows us to optimize the engine around the parts that are actually installed instead of relying on a generic file intended to work on thousands of different cars.
What Will You Notice After the Tune?
Depending on your setup, proper N54 tuning can improve:
-
Horsepower
-
Torque
-
Turbo Spool
-
Throttle Response
-
Mid-Range Power
-
High-RPM Power
-
Boost Control
-
Air/Fuel Ratio
-
Ignition Timing
-
VANOS Calibration
-
Drivability
-
Power Delivery
The goal is not simply to make the highest possible boost number.
The goal is to create a calibration that delivers strong, repeatable power while keeping fueling, timing, boost, and engine data under control.
This Is a CUSTOM Remote Tune
We don't send the same tune to every 335i owner.
Your calibration is based on your specific combination.
Here's How It Works
1. You send us your complete vehicle setup
We gather information about your engine, turbos, fuel system, modifications, and fuel.
2. We build your initial calibration
Your starting tune is created around your combination.
3. You flash the tune using MHD
Load the calibration into your DME through the MHD app.
4. You record the requested datalog
We tell you exactly what type of log we need.
5. We review the data
We analyze what the engine is actually doing.
6. We make a revision
Boost, fueling, ignition timing, VANOS, load targets, and other applicable parameters are refined.
7. You flash and datalog again
We continue making revisions as necessary.
Your tune is being adjusted to YOUR N54 — not somebody else's BMW.

Upgraded Twin Turbo Tuning
Running upgraded twins?
We can calibrate N54 combinations using larger stock-location turbochargers.
This can include setups with:
-
Upgraded Twin Turbos
-
Larger Inlets
-
Larger Outlets
-
Upgraded Intercooler
-
Upgraded LPFP
-
Upgraded HPFP Solutions
-
Port Injection
-
Ethanol Blends
-
E85
-
Higher Boost Targets
As airflow increases, proper boost control, fueling, and ignition calibration become increasingly important.
Single Turbo N54 Tuning
Converted your N54 to a single turbo?
We can also remotely tune compatible single-turbo setups.
Common combinations can include:
-
Top-Mount Single Turbo
-
Bottom-Mount Single Turbo
-
External Wastegate
-
Upgraded MAP / TMAP Sensors
-
Port Injection
-
Upgraded Low-Pressure Fuel System
-
Upgraded High-Pressure Fuel System
-
Ethanol Blends
-
E85
-
Built Engine Applications
Single-turbo cars require additional calibration work compared with a basic stock-turbo setup.
Make sure you select the correct tuning option when ordering.
Pump Gas, Ethanol Blends & E85
Your N54 tune can be built around the fuel you actually use.
Supported combinations can include:
-
91 Octane
-
93 Octane
-
E30
-
E40
-
E50
-
Other Ethanol Blends
-
E85 With the Proper Fuel System
The correct fuel system must be installed for the requested ethanol content and power level.
Boost Control
Boost is one of the most important parts of an N54 calibration.
Depending on your turbo setup, tuning can include optimization of:
-
Boost Targets
-
Wastegate Duty Cycle
-
Load Targets
-
Boost by RPM
-
Boost Response
-
Overboost Control
-
Throttle Intervention
-
Torque Targets
The objective is controlled, predictable boost rather than simply commanding the highest possible number.
Fueling Calibration
The N54's direct-injection fuel system is a critical part of the tuning process.
We monitor and adjust the calibration while reviewing data such as:
-
High-Pressure Fuel Pressure
-
Low-Pressure Fuel Pressure
-
Air/Fuel Ratio
-
Fuel Trims
-
Injector Behavior
-
Lambda Targets
-
Ethanol Content When Applicable
If the fuel system cannot safely support the requested power level, we will not attempt to tune around a mechanical limitation.
Ignition Timing & Knock Review
We review ignition timing and cylinder corrections throughout the tuning process.
Datalog analysis can include:
-
Individual Cylinder Timing Corrections
-
Ignition Advance
-
Engine Load
-
Boost
-
Intake Air Temperature
-
Fuel Pressure
-
Lambda / AFR
-
Other Relevant Engine Data
We do not blindly increase timing or boost just to chase a number.
The tune is adjusted based on what the data from your car shows.
VANOS Calibration
The N54 uses BMW's dual VANOS variable cam timing system.
VANOS calibration can influence:
-
Turbo Spool
-
Low-RPM Torque
-
Mid-Range Power
-
High-RPM Power
-
Cylinder Filling
-
Overall Engine Response
Depending on your combination, cam timing can be optimized to better match the turbo and airflow characteristics of your setup.
MHD Flashing & Datalogging
MHD allows compatible N54 BMWs to be flashed and monitored directly through a mobile device. MHD officially supports both iOS and Android.
This allows you to:
-
Flash Your Custom Tune
-
Record Datalogs
-
Monitor Engine Parameters
-
Read / Clear DME Fault Codes
-
Load Tune Revisions
-
Return to a Stock Calibration When Needed
Because everything can be done remotely, you can work with us regardless of where the car is located.

Mechanical Condition Matters
A tune cannot repair a mechanical problem.
Before remote tuning begins, your N54 should be in good mechanical condition.
We strongly recommend verifying components such as:
-
Spark Plugs
-
Ignition Coils
-
Injectors
-
High-Pressure Fuel Pump
-
Low-Pressure Fuel Pump
-
Boost Leaks
-
Vacuum Leaks
-
Wastegate Operation
-
Turbo Condition
-
Cooling System
If the datalogs show a mechanical problem, the issue may need to be corrected before tuning can continue.
Why Custom Tune Your N54?
The N54 has enormous performance potential.
But as the modifications become more serious, a generic tune becomes less appropriate.
Stock turbos.
Upgraded twins.
Single turbo.
Pump gas.
Ethanol.
Port injection.
Different intercoolers.
Different wastegates.
Different fuel systems.
Every combination behaves differently.
That's why your calibration should be built around your actual setup and your actual datalogs.
